“Senior Swifties” recreate Taylor Swift album covers in photoshoot tribute
Senior home residents in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire have begun to embrace Taylor Swift’s music as part of their habitat.
ITV News reports that Bartlett’s Care Home has been playing Taylor Swift music for its residents as a form of therapy. This has been done in partnership with care home marketplace Lottie, who have dubbed the residents “Senior Swifties”.
“[The aim of the project] was to debunk common misconceptions of care through music,” Lottie co-founder Chris Donnelly tells ITV News, “and show everyone that care homes can be the start of a new and fulfilling chapter in life.”
As part of the project, Lottie arranged for a photoshoot with the “Senior Swifties”, who were given a chance to pose as Taylor Swift in rendered depictions of her album covers.
“I wish I could wear outfits like Taylor Swift every day,” said 80-year-old Carol, who is placed on the cover of ‘Midnights’. ITV News reports her as the home’s biggest self-confessed Taylor Swift fan.
Meanwhile, the 91-year-old Elizabeth went for Swift’s ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’, and she looks forward to sending the photos to her family members in Australia.
“Our residents’ joy in recreating Taylor Swift’s album covers is a testament to our dedication to creating a vibrant and supportive community,” stated Kavita Salhotra, People Innovation Manager at Bartlett’s Care Home.
Lottie also revealed via ITV News that Swift’s music was chosen due to the “pitch perfect average tempo” that it possesses, claiming that a song with 101 beats per minute helps people with dementia spark memories of joy and happiness.
Swift is set to bring her wildly successful The Eras Tour to the UK next month, with her dates in Liverpool preceded by a Taylor Swift-inspired makeover of the city.
