Sharon Stone is reportedly in talks to star in the long-awaited third season of Euphoria.

Little is known about what her role could be in the Sam Levison-directed teen drama, but sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the Basic Instinct star is indeed set to join the star-studded cast alongside the likes of Zendaya, Sydney SweeneyJacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer.

It comes years after Zendaya paid homage to the actress at the 2022 Oscars, when she donned a similar look to Stone’s at the 1998 Oscars.

Speculation about her joining the show follows the exit of several actors from the project, which so far have included Storm Reid, who played Rue’s younger sister in the series, and Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, who left in 2022.

Other notable names who won’t be returning for the third instalment include Nika King, who played Rue’s mother Leslie, Austin Abrams, who starred as Kat’s (Ferreira) boyfriend Ethan, and Algee Smith, who portrayed Cassie’s (Sweeney) ex-boyfriend McKay.

On Friday (February 14), HBO shared the full cast, with fans surprised to find included the addition of Grammy-winning pop artist Rosalía and 2014 Super Bowl winner Marshawn Lynch.

The show’s official X/Twitter account revealed that Darrell Britt-Gibson (Judas and The Black Messiah), Kadeem Hardison (A Different World), Priscilla Delgado (A League of Their Own), James Landry Hébert (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), and Anna Van Patten (Gossip Girl) will also join the series in guest starring roles.

Eric Dane, Dominic Fike, Alexa Demi and Maude Apatow will also return as series regulars, as well as Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry who have both been promoted. Colman Domingo will also make his guest star return as Rue’s (Zendaya) 12-step sponsor Ali.

The news comes after HBO‘s executive vice president and Head of Drama Francesca Orsi hinted that season three would likely mark the end of the hit teen drama series.

In a recent chat with Deadline Hollywood, she noted that the door’s still being left open for a potential continuation, but that season three is expected to be Euphoria‘s last: “We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end.”

Little is known of season three, except that “a time jump” will be involved, and that it will consist of eight episodes, which are due to arrive in 2026. It is also currently unclear how Euphoria‘s third season will deal with storylines surrounding actor Angus Cloud, who died in August 2023.

The new cast update comes after it was revealed that production on the long-delayed series had finally begun, offering a first look at Zendaya’s Rue.
