Sharon Van Etten announces one-off London show – her first performance in over a year

Sharon Van Etten has announced a one-off show in London, marking her first live performance in over a year.

The New Jersey singer-songwriter released her sixth and latest studio album, ‘We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong’, in May 2022. Last year, she shared ‘Quiet Eyes’ from the Past Lives soundtrack and the Courtney Barnett co-written single ‘Close To You’.

Per Setlist.FM, Van Etten hasn’t played a gig since spring 2023. Today (July 8), the ‘Seventeen’ singer took to social media to reveal that she’ll be returning to the stage very soon.

“Hi, it’s Sharon,” she began in a brief video, “and I have a little secret.”

Van Etten continued: “The band and I are in London, and we are playing a show on July 17th. But if you want more details, you have to sign up for my email list.”

Pointing to her chin, she then joked: “Hopefully my zit will be gone by then. Ssh, don’t tell anyone!”

Van Etten has not yet announced any new material, but signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music at the start of this year (via Music Week). Her most recent UK shows took place in 2022 when she headlined Brixton Academy.

Last December, Van Etten’s track ‘Quiet Eyes’ was shortlisted for Best Original Song at the Oscars 2024. The award ultimately went to Billie Eilish and Finneas for ‘What Was I Made For?’ from Barbie.

More recently, Van Etten has been celebrating the 10th anniversary of her 2014 album ‘Are We There’.
