Slipknot announce first song with new drummer Eloy Casagrande, ‘Long May You Die’
Slipknot have confirmed a new track called ‘Long May You Die’ is on the way – marking their first new material with Eloy Casagrande.
The US metal icons took to Instagram to share the news of a new song in a brief, but very exciting post.
In the update, which was shared last night (May 15), the band shared an image of the line-up and addressed the speculation from fans in the caption.
“Slipknot fans are talking amongst themselves about ‘Long May You Die’ being a new song written during the recent recording sessions,” they wrote, before simply adding: “You’re right. You’re absolutely right.”
At the time of writing, further details about the forthcoming track remain limited, and the band haven’t yet shared an official release date with fans.
However, it is confirmed that the song will mark their first new material with Eloy Casagrande as the drummer. News that the former Sepultura drummer had joined the band was shared in late April, and he took over the role from Jay Weinberg, who was let go late last year.
Since then, Casagrande has opened up about the “complicated” choice he had to make in leaving Brazilian metal legends to join Slipknot.
Before his placement in the Iowa group was confirmed, fans were speculating about who the new drummer would be – and many were certain that it was Casagrande long before the official announcement came.
It was also before the announcement that Slipknot first teased listeners with rumours of new material. In mid-April, the members hinted at a mystery upcoming event with a cryptic billboard message in California that read ‘ONE NIGHT ONLY’.
It popped up on a billboard on the highway to Coachella 2024, and showed the band’s logo alongside a second slogan of ‘LONG MAY YOU DIE’ – now confirmed to be the title of the new song.

Rumours of new music from the band had been percolating among their fanbase for a long time by that point, and the last album the nu-metal icons released was ‘The End, So Far’, which arrived back in August 2022.
It proved to be the last full-length LP before the departure of both keyboardist Craig Jones, who left the group in June, and Jay Weinberg, who was suddenly kicked out of the line-up shortly after.
News of new music also comes after founding member Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan spoke to NME about what Slipknot have planned for 2024 at the end of last year.
“I’m ready to move on from what has been, and move onto a world that I know needs to be. For instance, normally we’d have about two years on and one-and-a-half years off – we’re not doing that anymore,” he said.
“We’re going back to basics. I’m ready to kick everybody in the face again! I’m ready to do a 100-person venue again! I’m ready to do a 500-person venue…”
More recently, guitarist Jim Root revealed how Casagrande came to be the band’s new drummer – saying that the band didn’t consider auditioning anyone else for the role – and the band announced their ‘Here Comes The Pain’ 25th anniversary US tour with Knocked Loose and more.
