Snoop Dogg Ends Paris Olympics Adventure In Royal Fashion in Team GB Video Featuring Kate Middleton and Prince William
Snoop Dogg did it all while serving as a special NBC correspondent during the just-concluded Paris Summer Olympics. And just as the closing ceremonies were about to kick off and pass the torch to the next host city, Los Angeles, the Doggfather checked one more bucket list item off his list: rubbing shoulders with the next generation of British royals.
Snoop popped up in the traditional congratulatory message to Team GB from the British monarchs on Sunday (August 11), teeing up the clip starring Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton with a proper, “greetings loved ones.” The rapper was dressed to impress in the NBC Paris studios, rocking a custom USA-themed outfit featuring a half-white/half-blue blazer with red and blue piping and a red, white and blue scarf.
“From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB,” said Princess of Wales Middleton, who has been rarely seen over the past year as she receives treatment for cancer. “Well done on all you’ve achieved, you’ve been an inspiration to us all,” added Prince William, who has earned lots of attention across the pond for his new beard.
The video also included shout-outs from British soccer legend David Beckham — “hey team GB, we are so proud of you, congratulations” — as well as a number of former British olympians and sports presenters. Great Britain earned 65 total medals during the Paris games, including 14 gold, 22 silver and 29 bronze.
Snoop ended the video by saying, “Thank you Great Britain. On behalf of Big Snoop Dogg, the prince and his lovely wife.” The MC was back in the mix later in the day during the elaborate closing ceremonies, where he joined Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and H.E.R. in a series of performances that marked the kick-off of the LA28 era.
