Narrator:
Could Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” be the Song of the Summer? Or what about Shaboozey’s viral TikTok hit, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”? There’s no denying that the Hot 100 is full of bops that we can’t stop listening to. But which one will be the top summer song? This is Billboard Explains: Song of the Summer Contenders.

If you’ve been on social media at all in the past month, you’ve heard this all over TikTok. The Sabrina Carpenter earworm “Espresso” debuted at No. 7 on the Hot 100 in April, and has so far peaked at No. 4. That’s Sabrina’s highest Hot 100 rank, outdoing “Feather” that peaked at No. 21 in April.

Next, another viral TikTok smash is Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby.” It debuted at No. 2 on the Hot 100, and so far hasn’t moved up to the No. 1 spot just yet. It was a huge arrival right out of the gate for Tommy, and even debuted at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart.

Then there’s Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” It debuted at No. 36 on the Hot 100 in April and jumped into the top five, peaking at No. 3 so far. It also spent three weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs, dethroning Beyoncé’s, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” the first time two black artists have ranked back to back at No. 1 in the charts history.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” is also a contender.

Keep watching to learn more!
