‘Stardew Valley’’s massive new update is now available for console and mobile gamers

Stardew Valley farm with neat squares of crops

Cosy farming simulator Stardew Valley has been out for over eight years, and in that time developer ConcernedApe has released plenty of free updates. Now, 1.6 is finally available on console and mobile.

The update that’s actually coming is 1.6.9, available on all platforms now. With it, console and mobile players will have access to everything introduced in 1.6, as reported by IGN.

Some of the highlights of this update include tweaked dialogue, new cheat codes, Easter Eggs, and a new NPC in the secret woods that will return your lost items to you.

Being added to consoles and mobile from the 1.6 update are some new festivals: a three-day desert event, two mini fishing festivals, and an event in the summer. There have also been changes made to the perk system as well as a new farm type that has chewy blue grass and starts you off with a chicken coop and two chickens.

NPCs have winter outfits for the cold weather, festivals have map and dialogue changes every second year, and there’s a mysterious new tree south of your farm that has a new quest attached to it.

Also coming are the 1.6.9 changes. For the speedrunners out there, beds can now be placed in any constructed building that will allow you to place furniture inside them. You can also put legendary fish in fish ponds. These are limited to one per pond and they’ll produce legendary fish roe. Sticking to water, any item you drop in the liquid will now float for a time, allowing you to collect it if you’re speedy enough or have a magnet ring equipped.

In other news, Sony has confirmed all the games getting PS5 Pro upgrades.
