STAYC drop electrifying music video for Japanese single, ‘Meow’
K-pop girl group STAYC have released a music video for their new Japanese single, ‘Meow’.
Today (August 21), the six-member act released their fourth Japanese single, ‘Meow’, which also featured a Japanese version of their latest Korean single ‘Cheeky Icy Thang’. The ‘Meow’ visual features the members strutting up to a press conference as cameras flash around them. As they break into the song’s choreography, sparks and lightning start to go off.
“Kitty, kitty, kiss me, don’t leave me alone / Where have you been without permission / You must have felt lonely, right? / Kitty, kitty, kiss me, don’t leave me alone / No matter if we stand up or hug each other / A cage of dilemma that hurts each other,” they sing in the chorus.
Aside from the two aforementioned songs, The single album also includes a remix of the former track by electronic DJ Shlomi. The girl group’s Japanese release comes nearly two months after they made a comeback with their first studio album ‘Metamorphic’, which was led by ‘Cheeky Icy Thang’ and promotional B-side ‘1 Thing’.
In a four-star review of the album, NME’s Gladys Yeo wrote: “While not every song hits it out of the park, the record succeeds in showcasing the girl group’s impressive range, and more than proves STAYC’s timeless charm and staying power.”
Prior to the release of ‘Metamorphic’, they also released a remake of TWICE’s hit single ‘Fancy’ for Spotify Singles this March. “As we were embarking on our journey to become artists, we always respected what they have done and also we wanted to emulate them,” the group said of TWICE in an interview with NME.
In other K-pop news, rookie girl group YOUNG POSSE made a comeback earlier today with their third mini-album ‘Ate That’ and its title track of the same name, alongside a playful Grand Theft Auto-inspired visual.
