Steve Carell has posted a video that was shown to high schools in Altadena, California, saying that students in the area affected by the Los Angeles Wildfires will have their prom tickets paid for through a partnership between himself and a charity.

As well as being posted on the Instagram account of Alice’s Kids, a charity that works to help improve the self-esteem of young people. In January, wildfires tore through the city of Los Angeles, killing at least 29 and forcing more than 200,000 people to evacuate.

The fires destroyed more than 18,000 homes and structures, burning over 57,000 acres of land in total. The Altadena area was one of the worst affected, being impacted by one of the biggest blazes that started in Eaton Canton.

“Attention. Attention all seniors. This is Steve Carell with a very special announcement,” the actor said in the video. “I work with a wonderful charity based out of Virginia called Alice’s Kids. And Alice’s Kids wanted me to let you know that they will be paying for all of your prom tickets”.

“And if you have already paid for your prom tickets, they will reimburse you for your prom tickets. It’s a pretty good deal. Have fun. Enjoy the prom, and remember, this is Steve Carell,” he added.

Carell has been involved in other activities to raise money and provide relief for those affected by the wildfires. In February, he joined Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, and others in a charity hockey game.

“Skate For LA Strong: A Celebration to Support the Fire Recovery Efforts in Los Angeles” donated proceeds to the Red Cross, the LA Fire Foundation, Cal Fire Foundation and Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.
