‘Super Mario’ fans are going wild for this newly announced LEGO set
A new Super Mario LEGO set has been announced and, even though it’s a few months out, fans are already going feral for it.
As reported by Jay’s Brick Blog, a Singapore LEGO certified shop has provided fans with the first look at 71438 Super Mario World Mario & Yoshi. This is a diorama-style LEGO set that evokes the 2D, 16-bit look of older Super Mario games. It features Mario riding Yoshi, his green dinosaur pal, and it appears that movement will be possible due to a hand crank on the piece.
The pictures show Mario and Yoshi in a few different positions, one of which includes Mario hitting Yoshi in the head so that his tongue pops out, his signature long-ranged attack in the games.

The set clocks in at 1,215 pieces and costs $209.99 SGD. That’s about £121.37, but prices may be different globally and haven’t been announced yet. The set releases on October 1, 2024.
Under a tweet sharing news of the Super Mario LEGO set, fans have been very excited. “They didn’t have to give the Lego super Mario world sprite layers the amount of detail for this is insane!” wrote one user.
One person shared a meme of a very dehydrated Spongebob Squarepants saying, “I need it”, and another person simply tweeted in all caps, “NEED”. Sentiment is similar for a lot of people, all expressing their desire to own this set.
There are also some people hoping the set isn’t too expensive, as LEGO often sells for a lofty price. “I hate how over priced Lego tend to be. 90 dollars is probably the most I wound spend on something like that,” wrote one person.
In other news, solo Fortnite players are unhappy that a new quest requires them to play in a party, but we have a workaround for some players that can help them.
