Taylor Lautner Confirms Taylor Swift Ended Their Relationship, Talks ‘Rekindling’ Their Friendship
Taylor Lautner went “Back to December” during a recent Call Her Daddy episode alongside his wife Taylor Dome.
Lautner talked about “rekindling” a friendship with Taylor Swift, whom he dated back in 2009. “I think when you respect somebody for who they are, like in their soul, it allows you to move on, forgive and continue that love in a different way,” he shared of their breakup, noting at one point in the episode that Swift was “absolutely” the one who ended things. “I’m thinking back on exactly what happened. But no, yeah, she did.”
He recalled that after the split, the two “stayed friendly, we would see each other now and then. But we then did fall out of touch and didn’t talk for a while,” adding that he “always had the deepest respect for who she is as a person before anything else.”
“Honestly I would say one of the greater things to happen in my life over the last year is the rekindling of our friendship,” Lautner said.
Swift and Lautner dated in 2009 after meeting on the set of Valentine’s Day, and it is rumored that her Speak Now hit, “Back to December,” is about their breakup. Back in July, Swift debuted the first music video from her Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album at the first Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, Missouri. The Twilight actor, Joey King and Presley Cash, who all starred in the video, also joined the singer onstage to celebrate the video’s premiere.
