The All-American Rejects pull out of When We Were Young following festival “management change”

The All-American Rejects have announced that they’ll no longer be playing When We Were Young as the festival’s management “won’t be able to accommodate” them.

The Las Vegas emo bash’s 2024 edition is set to take place on October 19 and 20. They unveiled their lineup last year, with My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World set to play their classic albums in full.

Now though, The All-American Rejects have pulled out. The band were slated to play their 2002, self-titled debut album, but have shared that they’ll no longer be playing following a “management change” at the festival.

In a statement shared to Instagram, they wrote: “We have spent months tirelessly preparing a once-in-a-lifetime show that we were so excited to bring to you. However, there has been a management change within the WWWY operation, and they are no longer able to accommodate us in the previously agreed upon line-up, which has made it impossible for us to continue.”

They went on to say: “We are especially devastated to not get to play for those of you who are travelling across the glove to witness the visual and sonic spectacle we have been brewing up in our cauldron. We’d like to apologize to our amazing crew who have been working around the clock to make magic happen.”

NME has reached out to When We Were Young for comment.

Artists on the 2024 bill will all play one of their former albums in full. Among the classic albums announced to be performed live are MCR’s seminal 2006 album ‘The Black Parade’, Jimmy Eat World’s ‘Bleed American’, The Distillers‘ ‘Coral Fang’, A Day To Remember‘s ‘Homesick’ and Dashboard Confessional‘s ‘Dusk and Summer’. Fall Out Boy will also play a classic album live but it has been confirmed which one as yet.

Last year’s edition of When We Were Young saw Avril Lavigne and All Time Low teaming up to perform Lavigne’s hit ‘Sk8er Boi’. Tony Hawk also joined Goldfinger to perform ‘Superman’ at the bash.

Elsewhere, Green Day also debuted a new song, ‘Look Ma, No Brains’ at the festival.
