The Beta Band announce 2025 UK and North American reunion tour

The Beta Band, 2025

The Beta Band have shared details of a UK and North American comeback tour, set to kick off later this year. Find ticket details below, as well as info on a rerelease of ‘The Three E.P.’s’.

The news comes after the band began dropping hints of an upcoming announcement last month, which left fans convinced that a reunion was on the way.

These included posts of the members, past performances and photos of a touring case washing up on shore, as well as a new BlueSky account and links where fans could sign up to receive new information about the Scottish group.

Now, the band – comprised of Steve Mason (singer/guitar), Richard Greentree (bass), John Maclean (samples/keyboard) & Robin Jones (drums) – have confirmed that they are back together and will be hitting the road towards the end of the year.

This marks the first time they have played together since they disbanded in 2004, and their first shows since they took to the stage at Edinburgh’s Liquid Room on December 4 of that year.

The first run of tour dates kick off in September, and include stops in Glasgow, Leeds, Bristol and Nottingham. It then picks up again in October, rounding off the UK shows with a stop at the Roundhouse in London and the Albert Hall in Manchester.

“The Beta Band, as everyone knows, is an institution, like Bedlam, or the RSPCA, and as such has its own indelible stain on the bedsheet of Western culture,” the band said of their comeback. “It was the great John Noakes who said ‘You have to shake it out at least once every couple of decades, if you want to know what the moths did’. So with both those facts in mind, we realise the time has come to show the wall the Luminol, kill the lights and hit the UV.”

As well as the shows, The Beta Band will also be sharing a deluxe double vinyl reissue of ‘The Three E.P.’s’.

Set for release on July 11, the vinyl was originally released in September 1998, and collected the band’s first three EPs: ‘Champion Versions’, ‘The Patty Patty Sound’ and  ‘Los Amigos del Beta Bandidos’. The 2025 edition will be pressed on black vinyl with artwork on the inner sleeves that features the original covers. Visit here to pre-order.

Formed in 1996 by Scottish musicians Steve Mason and Gordon Anderson, The Beta Band would go on to release three albums: 1999’s ‘The Beta Band’, 2001’s ‘Hot Shots II’ and 2004’s ‘Heros To Zeros’.

Since the band’s split in 2004, Mason has gone on to release music with his own solo project King Biscuit Time. He has also released music with his newer projects Black Affair and Good Face. In 2010, Mason released his first LP under his name titled ‘Boys Outside’.

Mason’s other bandmates, Robin Jones, John Maclean and Gordon Anderson formed The Aliens and Richard Greentree has his own band named The General and Duchess Collins.
