‘The Devil Wears Prada’ sequel reportedly in the works with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt
A sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is reportedly in the works with two major actors reprising their roles.
According to a Puck report, a sequel to the 2006 fashion-focused comedy-drama is supposedly moving forward, with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt returning to reprise their roles as Miranda Priestly and Emily Charlton accordingly. Notably, Puck reports that Anne Hathaway will not be returning.
The supposed sequel will reportedly see Priestly and Charlton navigate the withering landscape of the magazine publishing industry.
Hathaway’s potential absence from the supposed Devil Wears Prada sequel isn’t too surprising though. In April this year, the actor distanced herself from the idea of a second film, telling V Magazine: “We all love each other and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we’d all be crazy not to. But there’s a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object.”
She continued: “Now with so much being digital, it would just be very different. Maybe me, Stanley, Emily, Meryl, Dave Frankel, Patricia Field… we should just all do something else together. That’d be fun.”
Emily Blunt recently starred in The Fall Guy alongside Ryan Gosling. The film scored a four-star review, with Matthew Turner writing for NME: “In short, The Fall Guy is a delight from start to finish, thanks to a sparkling script, thrilling action sequences and to-die-for comic chemistry between the two leads. There are even a couple of lovely nods to the original TV show, which is kind, considering nobody under 50 is likely to clock them.”
