‘The Devil’s Plan’ producer teases “more ambitious” season two
Netflix and The Devil’s Plan producer Jung Jong-yeon has shared new details of the reality game show’s upcoming season.
Netflix Korean reality game show The Devil’s Plan has wrapped up filming for its second season. During a recent set visit, producer Jung and the streaming platform teased new details for the upcoming season to press.
“The number of players has increased to 14,” said Jung per The Chosun Daily, who shared that the set had nearly doubled in size for season two. “Building it took around eight weeks, while the planning phase spanned six to seven months. Having the experience of season one made me even more ambitious for this season.”
According to the news outlet, the new also set includes various immersive environments, including new game zones resembling a monastery and prison, as well as residential areas for the cast. The production team also increased the number of cameras used for the season to accommodate the flow of the contestants’ experience.
Jung also addressed criticism over the first season’s lack of variety in games, sharing that they formed a dedicated game development team for season two, which included ex-colleagues from one of his previous projects, The Genius.
“We met up on Sundays to brainstorm and test games together. They were thrilled to have their names in the credits of a show they love, and their contributions were invaluable. This season, about half of the games were developed by that team, setting the stage for a longer series run,” he said.
Finally, Jung opened up about his goal of turning The Devil’s Plan into a long-running series. “My goal is to create something lasting. While achieving success like Squid Game would be wonderful, I simply wish to continue making more seasons,” he said. “My humble dream is for Netflix to keep appreciating our work and continue releasing new seasons.”
The Devil’s Plan 2 is currently slated for release in the second quarter of 2025.
