‘The Duskbloods’ release date window, story, gameplay info
FromSoftware surprised everyone at the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal by unveiling a brand new IP. The Duskbloods is a fascinating experiment for the studio, blending PvPvE gameplay and taking inspiration from the studio’s previous games like Bloodborne and other titles like Castlevania.
While there is still a lot of mystery surrounding the game, we do have some confirmed info. Below, we break it all down.
‘The Duskbloods’ release date window
The Duskbloods will release in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, exclusively. It will not be available on any other platform as Nintendo is publishing it.
This is FromSoftware’s first Nintendo exclusive title. We don’t have a confirmed window yet, but it will mostly likely be sometime in the second half of the year.
‘The Duskbloods’ story
The Duskbloods is set in a world “where the moontears will flow for only one person”. The game is being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and a deep dive “Creator’s Voice” developer diary will be published on April 4, 2025, going into more detail about the game’s story and PvPvE gameplay.
Until then, all we can do is speculate, but it seems like you will be fighting in an open world against other players and bosses to try and achieve the ultimate goal of being the person to receive the moontears. The game does appear to have a vampire theme with players drawing blood from other enemies.
‘The Duskbloods’ gameplay
Overall, The Duskbloods‘ gameplay looks very similar to other FromSoftware titles. It is a third-person action adventure where you fight enemies and tough bosses in challenging combat. However, the game also has PvP in some form.
You appear to be able to choose from one of several characters, similar to Elden Ring: Nightreign. These characters have access to spells, melee weapons, unique vampire-themed abilities, and even ranged firearms.
All of these details are teased in the reveal trailer, and we should hopefully see more later this year! We still don’t know exactly how the PvPvE experience will work or if this is a full RPG or something similar to Elden Ring: Nightreign, which is a spinoff.
