The Killers tease new song ‘Bright Lights’ and Las Vegas residency stage show
The Killers have teased a new song ‘Bright Lights’ and given clues to the staging for their upcoming Las Vegas residency – read on for all the info.
The band are currently preparing for their Vegas residency to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seminal debut album ‘Hot Fuss’. They will play the record in full over eight nights at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in their hometown, starting on August 14 and wrapping on August 30.
In a string of Instagram posts over the last 24 hours, the band have been gradually revealing details of a glitzy, shiny new staging, with brief clips of music – each slightly longer than the last – teasing an apparent new song.

The final clip includes bold, pulsing guitar and a snippet of triumphant, echoed vocals from Brandon Flowers as he sings: “Turn the bright lights on”.
The band’s upcoming Vegas residency will follow on from a six-night stint at London’s O2 earlier this year as part of the ‘Rebel Diamonds’ tour, a string of shows for which they were presented an award for breaking ticket sales records.
In a four-star review of one of those shows, NME wrote: “The tone of the evening remains consistent: a balance of big hits and deep cuts from their entire discography. ‘Smile Like You Mean It’, ‘Spaceman’ and ‘Somebody Told Me’ are performed with bombast and urgency, as Flowers assumes the role of gracious host, reminding the audience that he and his band are in the service industry, gleefully here to facilitate the best of times.
“The smart staging – diamond-shaped lighting and a garishly-patterned casino carpet – complements the dazzling black number that Flowers sashays and flexes in.”
Last December, Flowers hinted to NME about the possibility of what a new Killers album might sound like. “You know how people say, ‘Oh, I don’t know what I’m doing’? Bands are always self-deprecating but I’m going to be honest – I’m starting to know what I’m doing!” he said.
Expanding on the possibility of getting the whole band on the same page at the same time for another album, he teased: “The goal has always been to get all four original members to take ownership and be proud of what we’re doing, but it’s so difficult with all four of us living in different cities. It’s not impossible. It’s weird to be talking to you about it, but I’d definitely like to do that.”
In that same interview, Flowers also revealed that he was working on his third solo album, saying he “almost had it wrapped up”.
He continued that he didn’t think he’d be able to release it until 2025, adding: “It’s different. I feel like it embodies a little bit of my first two solo records, but obviously there’s so much more living that I’ve done in the seven years since my last effort. I’ve got a lot more insight and things that I’ve absorbed. I’m really loving how it’s turning out.”
