‘The Last Of Us’ creator praises fan-made recreation of season two trailer
The Last Of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann has praised a fan-made recreation of the new season two trailer that uses footage from the games.
The second season of The Last Of Us is due out at some point next year, but fans are already excited about reuniting with Ellie and Joel after the traumatic events of season one. A recently-released teaser trailer only amped up the excitement further, with the intense two-minute clip pulling heavy influence from Naughty Dog’s celebrated The Last Of Us Part 2 game.
In fact, there were so many similarities that one fan has recreated the trailer shot-for-shot using only footage from The Last Of Us Part 2.
The Last of Us Part 2 Trailer (HBO Style) was created by YouTube channel Rage Tributes and has racked up tens of thousands of views in a few days.
“Well that was an absolute masterpiece, congratulations for making this! I really can’t wait for season 2 AND 3 to come out, I want to see how they’re gonna adapt the story for TV,” said one fan, with another calling the video “absolutely incredible”.
The video was so good, it also attracted the attention of Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann, who was also heavily involved in the HBO adaptation. “Wow!” he wrote on social media, sharing the recreated trailer.

The second season of The Last Of Us doesn’t currently have a release date beyond 2025, but it has been hinted that a third season could also be in the works.
In an interview with Collider, co-creator Craig Mazin say that there is “a lot” of story from Part 2 to adapt and it will “probably take more than [one] season to tell. Our ambition is to tell the story that exists, as best as we can, in a different medium [though].”
And while there isn’t currently a The Last Of Us Part 3 to take inspiration from, that might change. Earlier this year Druckmann teased “one more chapter”. Speaking in a documentary, he confirmed “I don’t have a story, but I do have a concept.”
In other news, PlayStation users are facing a number of technical issues, with the PSN experiencing a global outage and the PS5 homescreen getting invaded by buggy ads.
