‘The Last Of Us’ season two trailer reunites fans with Joel and Ellie
The first trailer has been released for the second season of The Last Of Us, with Joel and Ellie being reunited after the traumatic events of the first season. Watch it below.
The first run of HBO’s critically acclaimed adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game franchise was released in January last year and followed Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), two survivors of the collapse of society, 20 years after a fungal outbreak caused a pandemic that transformed humans into zombie-like killers.
The second season was confirmed before the third episode of the first season aired, with the very first glimpse of the new footage being released in a teaser clip last month. Alongside Pascal and Ramsey, the new episodes – there will be seven in total – will see Kaitlyn Denver, Catherine O’Hara and Isabela Merced join the cast.
Now, fans have been treated to a fuller insight into the look of the new season, with Joel and Ellie appearing to live in relative calm with O’Hara’s character, until the familiar threat of the infected rear their heads again.

The new season is expected to be based on the 2020 game The Last Of Us Part II, and fans of the game reacted to the teaser last month, describing their first impressions as “awesome” and “amazing”.
Fans have latched onto some of the darker imagery from the trailer, with one social media user isolating certain stark shots and speculating that the season is going to be “brutal”.

The trailer suggests the new season will be no less anxiety-inducing than its predecessor, with another X user reacting: “I just saw Pedro Pascal in the new the last of us trailer, and I’m not ready to see him die. I DON’T WANT. Pls someone do something about it.”

The first episode of The Last Of Us became HBO’s second biggest premiere in over a decade after House Of The Dragon, racking up 4.7 million viewers in the US across HBO and streaming service HBO Max. Viewership of the second episode later jumped up to 5.7 million viewers, a 22 per cent increase.
One character who will appear in the second season of The Last Of Us is Dina, a pregnant woman that served as the inspiration for the character Kay in the recent film release Alien: Romulus. Kay was played by Isabela Merced, and the actor will bring the connection full circle by also portraying Dina in the new season of The Last Of Us.
No official release date has yet been confirmed for The Last Of Us season two, with the trailer simply reading: “2025”.
