‘The Little Mermaid’ Splashes Onto Disney+: Here’s How to Get a Subscription for Just $1.99 a Month

The Little Mermaid is swimming toward another digital release! Disney’s live-action adaptation of the classic mermaid splashed its way onto Disney+ on Wednesday (Sept. 6).
The Little Mermaid is streaming at no extra cost to Disney+ subscribers. If you’re not subscribed, you can join today for just $1.99 per month for three months, instead of the usual $7.99 monthly price for the ad-supported streaming plan.
Disney+ is currently offering discounts on Disney+ basic and the Disney+/Hulu bundle. The limited offer ends on Sept. 20.
Besides The Little Mermaid, Disney+ features exclusive shows and movies such as Ahsoka, I am Groot, Secret Invasion, The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical, The Series, Disney Princess: The Castle Quest, National Geographic Explorer: Lost in the Arctic and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Elemental will begin streaming on Disney+ on Sept. 13.
Where else can you stream The Little Mermaid? It arrived on Prime Video and other digital platforms in July. The movie debuted in theaters over the Memorial Day holiday weekend and returned to theaters on National Cinema Day. Since its May release, the Rob Marshall-directed movie has raked in more than $550 million worldwide, becoming one of the biggest films of 2023.
In addition to streaming on Disney+, audiences can officially buy and stream The Little Mermaid on Prime Video ($19.99). It’s also be available on other digital platforms such as Apple TV.

A modern reimagining of the fairytale, The Little Mermaid, stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, a spirited mermaid who swims to shore (against her father’s wishes), saves a prince from drowning and makes a deal with sea witch Ursula to become human. Jonah Hauer-King plays Ariel’s love interest, Prince Eric.
Melissa McCarthy stars as Ursula and Javier Bardem plays King Triton, Ariel’s father and Ursula’s estranged brother. Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay round out the cast as Ariel’s friends Sebastian, Flounder and Scuttle.

Prime Video features a large roster of entertainment — including a ton of movies streaming free for Prime members, movies that you can buy and rent including blockbuster hits such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3., Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, Joy Ride, Indiana Jones, No Hard Feelings, Fast X and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
You can also pre-order new movies such as Barbie, The Equalizer 3 and Blue Beetle and stream from anywhere once they are released on digital platforms.
The Little Mermaid will be released on Blu-ray/DVD ($24.99) on Sept. 19, according to Target. The Blu-ray includes the theatrical release and a singalong version of the movie. Fans will also be able to peek inside the making of the film with behind-the-scenes footage showcasing how the swimming sequences were filmed, above-the-sea filming locations such as Prince Eric’s castle, song breakdowns, featurettes, bloopers and more.
The Little Mermaid Collectible Steelbook Edition ($39.99), which is available exclusively at Best Buy and includes a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray and a digital copy of the movie, also drops on Sept. 19 (click here to pre-order from Best Buy).
