‘The Recruit’ fans livid after show’s cancellation: “Netflix SUCKS!”
Fans have turned on streamer Netflix after the announcement that espionage show The Recruit will end after season two.
The show followed Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo), a CIA lawyer who finds himself embroiled in international politics after he encounters an Eastern European asset who threatens extortion if she is not freed from prison.
The show’s first season was released in late 2022, with the second season debuting over two years later in January of this year following the Hollywood actors’ and writers’ strikes of 2023.
Fans of the show took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their frustration, pointing the blame at Netflix for not giving the series a chance. “@netflix take better care of your catalogue you (can’t) keep doing this thing” wrote one. “You’ve had some good IP’s that you just drop after 1, 2 or 3 season this is not a good strategy”.
That sucks really if it's true@netflix take better care of your catalog you can keep doing this thing.

“Netflix is horrible!!” said another. “Cancelling it after only 35 days. They absolutely SABOTAGED The Recruit releasing it just 7 days after The Night Agent. Two similar shows way too close together. @netflix SUCKS!!!”

“Netflix treating shows like trial subscriptions. two seasons and they hit unsubscribe” quipped one post, while another lamented: “What a waste of a solid foundation with 2 amazing seasons. Bring back season 3”.

The show’s creator wrote a “Love Letter” to the show on BlueSky, saying “Is two seasons and a movie a thing? Cause we’d all be there in a heartbeat. If not, man, we left it all on the field. For those who haven’t yet watched, dive in. I swear to God you’ll enjoy the ride. In an age of shows that feel like homework, The Recruit is a blast that has stakes and humor and hardcore action which will keep you leaning forward”.
A love letter to The Recruit…

This isn’t the first time the streamer has been met with anger following the cancellation of a show. Fans of Kaos voiced their disappointment last October when the show was cancelled after one season.
