The Subways celebrate 20th anniversary with 2025 UK and European tour and new ‘best of’ album
The Subways are celebrating their 20th anniversary by hitting the road for a new UK and European tour, and releasing a ‘best of’ album. Check out the details below.
It comes following the then-teenage trio bursting onto the scene back in 2005 with their Gold-certified debut album ‘Young For Eternity’ – the record that saw them lock in performances on Glastonbury’s pyramid stage, secure support slots for Foo Fighters and Oasis, and more.
Now, to mark 20 years since the record, Billy Lunn and Charlotte Cooper are releasing a new ‘best of’ album, which will capture the highlights from across their five studio albums and two decades in the industry. Titled ‘When I’m With You’, the album includes their debut single ‘Oh Yeah’, as well as early highlights ‘With You’, ‘I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say’ and ‘Kalifornia’.
Mid-era fan favourites include ‘We Don’t Need Money To Have A Good Time’ and ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’, while more recent tracks from their 2023 album ‘Uncertain Joys’ featured include ‘Kill My Cool’. Their huge hit ‘Rock & Roll Queen’ is also featured, as are two brand new songs. These are titled ‘I Need To Feel You Closer’ – which premiered during last year’s live shows – and ‘Passenger’s Side’. Both of these feature new drummer Camille Phillips, who joined in 2023 following the departure of Josh Morgan.
The album is set to arrive on October 17, and is available to pre-order here.
As well as compiling all of those hits from across the past 20 years into one album, the band are also set to break out the songs live as part of a new tour across the UK and Europe.
Taking place later this year, the tour kicks off in Bristol on November 5, before continuing with stops in Birmingham, Hull, Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham, Norwich and Portsmouth. UK shows wrap up with a gig at London’s Electric Ballroom on November 21, before The Subways embark on the EU leg of the tour.
This includes shows in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, The Netherlands, Switzerland and more across the end of November and the first half of December. Tickets go on sale on Thursday (April 10), although pre-sale access is available now to those who pre-order the ‘best of’ album.
“Reaching 20 years in itself is really special for us, because it means we’ve been doing what we love so deeply for such a long time,” Billy Lunn said. “But the true test of the joy we’ve been lucky enough to experience over the last two decades is the friends we’ve acquired along the way. Seeing faces old and new in the crowds at the shows is everything to us.
“We’d be nothing without our fans, and we love that The Subways’ songs are theirs as much as ours. It is with them that we’d like to celebrate this milestone, and we can’t wait to do so properly in the chaos of the mosh pit on the upcoming tour!”

“We’ve been on this wild ride for 20 years now and I’ve so enjoyed looking back over all the things we’ve been part of,” Charlotte Cooper added. “I’ve loved it all from the small sweaty gigs to the big festival stages. Seeing the world. Creating albums I’m hugely proud of. Making lasting friendships.
“We are so excited to celebrate with the fans who have kept us going all this time. Those who have been coming to shows for years; those who are now bringing their children along! We are eternally grateful and we are the luckiest people. See you down the front!”
In other Subways news, last September, the band teamed up with The Enemy, and each shared a cover of the other’s hits to raise money for mental health and homeless charities.
