Vince Staples‘ Netflix comedy series The Vince Staples Show has been picked up for a second season.

Per a Variety report, The Vince Staples Show has been green lit for more episodes after its first season debuted earlier this year. Staples confirmed the news with the publication, saying in a statement: “The Vince Staples Show is back!”

The rapper-actor continued: “The people have spoken and the most riveting, captivating, and polarizing show on Netflix is returning for season 2. Get ready for hijinks that only a mother can love. Thank you, Netflix!”

Season one of The Vince Staples Show consisted of just five episodes. It is currently unclear how many episodes will make up the upcoming second season. The show depicted Staples in a fictionalised version of his life that featured elements of crime.

Rick Ross, Naté Jones, Arturo Castro guest starred while Vanessa Bell Calloway and Andrea Ellsworth had recurring roles.

The news of The Vince Staples Show comes a week after the rapper released his latest album ‘Dark Times’. Prior to ‘Dark Times’, the rapper spoke about Drake’s and Kendrick Lamar’s beef earlier this month, saying that more people should be paying attention to what’s happening behind-the-scenes in the music industry, and how those changes are negatively affecting the Black community.

Vince Staples’ previous album, ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ scored a four-star review upon its release in 2022. Kyann-Sian Williams wrote for NME: “Emphasising Staples’ versatility, ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ continues the revival of hip-hop’s golden age (also epitomised by Cordae‘s 2021 album ‘From A Birds Eye View’). The production is clean and the rhymes imaginative as the artist digs deeper than ever before.
