The Weeknd is teasing new music – check out a snippet of what seems to be a new track below.
Last night (July 23), the Canadian pop star took to social media to share a snippet of a new song, accompanied by a cinematic teased. Clocking in at over two minutes, the snippet also comes with a caption written by the musician, who has quoted German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche: “When you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you…”

The snippet teases the third chapter in the musician’s ongoing ‘After Hours’ and ‘Dawn FM’ trilogy. It comes after he announced a “one-night-only” show in Brazil, which will see him introduce a “never-before-seen production” into the set.
While promoting the show, The Weeknd confirmed on social media that the set will include “three chapters”, hinting at the debut of new music in São Paulo.
He has been teasing his return as far back as January, suggesting that his upcoming sixth record would be the last volume of an ‘After Hours’/’Dawn FM’ trilogy. At the start of the month, a short video was posted to Tesfaye’s social media, suggesting that new material is imminent. In it, he stares with glassy eyes at the camera. It was accompanied by a photo of some woods at night.
In other news about The Weeknd, it was reported earlier this year that his huge hit single ‘Blinding Lights’ had become the first song in history to reach 4billion streams on Spotify.
Named Spotify’s most-streamed song of all time, the track featured on his ‘After Hours’ album, which was released at the end of 2019. At time of writing it had spent over 100 weeks in the charts. In that time, it set a new record for most weeks in the Top Five of the chart (43), Top 10 (57 weeks) and Top 40 (86 weeks), and replaced Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit ‘The Twist’ as the biggest US Billboard Hot 100 single of all time.
