These are the most played live games on Xbox and PlayStation
A new report has revealed that most gamers are spending their time on the same 10 live service games.
Earlier this week, video game analyst Mat Piscatella shared a new report from Circana that revealed the most popular games of February so far, with a majority of them live service.
Live service games are designed to keep players engaged for as long as possible, and are typically free-to-play, feature regular updates but also include microtransactions.
“Over 70 per cent of US active PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players played at least one of the Top 10 live service games of the month during January,” he wrote on Bluesky. ”More than 40 per cent of all time spent playing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in the US during January went to those same top 10 live service games.”
He didn’t go on to list what the top 10 games were, but according to Circana, Fortnite, Call Of Duty, Roblox and Grand Theft Auto 5 regularly top their weekly charts of most active games.

“New games struggle (imo primarily) because there’s no air for them to breathe. The biggest competitor to any new game is Fortnite,” he explained.
“Used to be that players would jump from big game to big game to some other games but they were most often moving to something new. That they purchased. Now, the live service games suck out a ton of available time, and it’s hard to beat free if it’s good,” he added.
“A lot is riding on the new products coming to market this year to hopefully combat or reverse some of these trends.” The Nintendo Switch 2 is due to launch later this year, as is Grand Theft Auto 6.
In other news, fans think a new Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor game is on the way and they couldn’t be less excited.
