This is why ‘Bloodborne’ fans are convinced news about a remake is imminent
Bloodborne fans are convinced news about the long-awaited remake of the iconic horror game is coming.
The original Bloodborne was released in 2015 and took influence from the works of fantasy horror authors Bram Stoker and H. P. Lovecraft. The game went on to sell over 7million copies and is still considered one of the greatest video games ever made. Despite this, no sequel to Bloodborne was ever made.
However earlier this year, Sony appeared to tease a possible revival. During a celebratory, 30th anniversary tribute video, footage of Bloodborne was used alongside the phrase “it’s about persistence”.
Now two fan-made Bloodborne projects have been shut down due to copyright claims. Three years ago artist Lilith Walther released Bloodborne PSX, which remade the original PlayStation 4 game in the style of the PlayStation 1.
Last night though, they took to Twitter to announce that Sony had filed a copyright claim on a recent Bloodborne PSX video. “It’s now known that the issue was not on the video itself, but the download link in the description. As such, the download link for Bloodborne PSX is now removed,” they added. “I am going to comply with this and not make the fan game available to download in the future.”
i am of course going to comply with this and not make the fan game available to download in the future.

Last month, Sony started legal action to remove a mod created by Lance McDonald that allowed Bloodborne to run at 60fps, even though it had been live since 2021.
Fans believe the sudden interest in removing this long-running fan projects is because Sony has their own Bloodborne remake in the works and they don’t want the competition.
“My copium theory is that Sony DMCAed the 60fps patch and the video about the Bloodborne demake so that when they announce a 60fps remake, Google searching for ‘Bloodborne 60fps; and ‘Bloodborne remake’ won’t have collisions with our fan projects,” said McDonald.
“To me, I think it is obvious that they are doing something with it,” replied one fan. “So what you’re saying is we’re getting a remake for the 10th anniversary,” wrote another.
When another Bloodborne fan project gets shut down, you know the speculation is real. Could this be a sign of an official remake on the horizon? What do you think about the possibility?

Last year, creator Hidetaka Miyazaki acknowledged the demand for more Bloodborne. “I think having new hardware is definitely a part of what gives these remakes value,” he added. “Things you weren’t able to achieve on previous generations of hardware, ways you weren’t able to render specific expressions.”
In other news, it’s been reported that the new Battlefield could be delayed to avoid clashing with Grand Theft Auto 6.
