This is your chance to be cast in Charli XCX’s new A24 movie ‘The Moment’
A casting call has been posted for Charli XCX‘s upcoming new A24 film The Moment – you can find all the details below.
The movie is based on the ‘Brat’ pop star’s own original idea, though details are currently being kept under wraps. Charli will star in the project and serve as a co-producer through her production company Studio365.
Her longtime collaborator A. G. Cook will provide the score. Scottish filmmaker Aidan Zamiri is set to make his feature-length directorial debut with the film. A release date is not yet known.
Now, casting website Backstage has shared a post seeking actors for three supporting roles in The Moment. These characters are Celeste (female, aged 32-38), Tim (male, 35-40) and Maria (female, 45-65).
“Seeking only UK-based talent. Open to ‘names’ and ‘discoveries’ for all roles,” the casting call reads. The platform has shared descriptions for each of the characters – read them below.
Celeste:
American. Creative director. Opinionated and direct. Believably fashionable and cool. Attractive and intelligent. In the know. SUPPORTING. TALENT MUST BE ABLE TO DO A STANDARD AMERICAN ACCENT. PLEASE ALSO SUBMIT “NAMES”.
Tim:
Late 30s. British. Manager. Used to play in a band until he realized he was much better at admin than he ever was at synth. Tries to weigh in on big decisions and assert himself but often seems out of his depth. A bad listener. SUPPORTING. PLEASE ALSO SUBMIT “NAMES”.
Maria:
Female. 40s – 60s. Insightful healer, Impossible to tell her true age, she is strikingly beautiful, poised. Worldly. TALENT MUST BE ABLE TO DO A STANDARD AMERICAN ACCENT. PLEASE ALSO SUBMIT “NAMES”.
Applicants must be based in the UK to be considered, and available to shoot in March. They are required to provide a headshot or photograph of themselves. The application deadline is listed as 11:59pm GMT on Saturday March 1.
Last December, it was announced that Charli XCX had been cast in The Gallerist alongside Jenna Ortega,Natalie Portman, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Sterling K. Brown, Zach Galifianakis, Daniel Brühl and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The singer now has numerous acting projects in the works, also including Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex and graphic novel adaptation 100 Nights Of Hero, which is led by Emma Corrin (Deadpool & Wolverine) and Maika Monroe (Longlegs).
In autumn 2024, it was revealed that Charli had filmed a movie called Erupcja in Warsaw, Poland at the height of ‘Brat’ summer.
During an interview with Zane Lowe last October, the star said: “I want to act now.” She also told fans that there would “probably [be] no music for a while”, adding: “Like, quite a while.”
Charli won three Grammys at the 2025 ceremony last Sunday (February 2): Best Dance Pop Recording (‘Von Dutch’), Best Dance/Electronic Album (‘Brat’) and Best Recording Package (‘Brat’).
She delivered a rave-inspired live performance of ‘Von Dutch’ and ‘Guess’ at the event too, filling the stage with underwear and some familiar faces.
Meanwhile, Charli XCX is up for five prizes at next month’s BRIT Awards 2025 including Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year (‘Brat’).
The singer looks set to have another big ‘Brat’ summer in 2025. She has curated her own day at London’s LIDO Festival, will headline Parklife in Manchester and play two outdoor shows in Belfast and Dublin.
Additionally, Charli is scheduled to appear at Coachella 2025 and will headline Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Porto, and perform at various other European festivals. She’ll embark on a US arena tour in April and May as well.
