This special PS5 update is making noughties kids nostalgic
It’s the 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation, and celebrations are in full swing. There have been London Underground takeovers, a compilation video, and now, those of you who grew up with the consoles can choose from a suite of custom sounds and startup options to teleport you back to the ’90s.

As reported by Eurogamer, if you update your PS5 you should get the option to add a new theme that makes it look more like the previous consoles: the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4. The themes are just visual, but you’ll also get the original Sony Computer Entertainment logo alongside the original synthy PS1 startup sound.
As well as the new themes and audio, there’s a special thank you message that plays when you shut down or restart the console. It reads: “Thanks for being part of this journey.”
The final clip in the 30th anniversary video has given Bloodborne fans some hope that the game could be getting a remaster soon. It shows the hunter fighting the Cleric Beast boss and has the message, “It’s about persistence” written across the screen. Fans have wanted more Bloodborne for close to a decade, so could this be Sony telling us to be patient and keep holding out?
The Bloodborne servers are being taken down today (November 3) for maintenence, so this is adding even more fuel to the fire, boosting fans’ hopes.
In other news, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone have teased a crossover with Netflix show Squid Game.
