Travis Scott says Adrien Brody makes beats: “I’m like, ‘You got to send me some’”
Travis Scott has shared in a new interview that he learned two-time Oscar winner and The Brutalist star Adrien Brody is also a beat-maker – one that he would like to collaborate with.
The ‘Utopia‘ rap star was the subject of the latest Complex cover story for April, in which he talked about encounters with his fans who are also celebrities – like Cameron Diaz, Complex pointed out to Scott. In January, Diaz revealed that she is a fan of Scott and Tyler, The Creator.
Scott brought up Brody – as the interview took place a month before the Oscars, the rapper expressed his hope for Brody to win Best Actor, which he did.
“Did you watch The Brutalist? That movie is hard as fuck,” Scott remarked. “I hope he wins Best Actor. That’s my dog.”
“I ran into him at a fashion show recently, and I’ve always been a fan of his,” he continued. “He’s been in Wes Anderson movies and shit, and worked with a lot of directors I fuck with.”

“I sat next to him and I’m like, ‘Fuck, I don’t even know if this dude knows who I am.’ And the first thing he tells me is, ‘Yo, bro, I fuck with your shit.’ And I’m like, ‘What the fuck?'”
Scott recalled Brody saying: “‘You know, I make beats and shit’. I’m like, ‘You got to send me some beats!’ So we chopped it up. Man, that fucked me up. That’s crazy. I get shit like that all the time.”
Complex noted that Brody previously discussed his first brush with beatmaking after starring in 1994 film Angels In The Outfield.
“That movie, by the way, got me making beats because I hung out with some kids in The Bay in Oakland who were producing and rapping,” Brody told the Los Angeles Times.
“And I grew up in New York, in kind of like the birth of hip-hop, but I didn’t know that I could actually go make tracks. And I started producing tracks with these guys and learned how to do it and went back to LA, and this was before the internet.”
Another actor who captured headlines for his unexpected music-making endeavours was Robert Pattinson, who admitted to making “ambient electronic music” during the production of The Batman – all while in his Batsuit.
Scott is set to perform at Coachella 2025 this weekend – see the full line-up and stage times here.
