BLACKPINK‘s Jennie has released the video for her song ‘Handlebars’ which features an appearance by Dua Lipa.

Released today (March 10), ‘Handlebars’ serves as the fifth single from Jennie’s debut solo album ‘Ruby‘. The track was co-written by Lipa, Rob Bisel, Amy Allen, Brittany Amaradio and James Ghaleb.

Directed by BRTHR, the music video opens with a shot of the K-pop singer laying on a circular bed wearing a newspaper print ensemble with television screens all around her.

She is then seen walking in a rainy alleyway and snaps her fingers, causing the rain to stop in place. “I trip and fall in love / Just like a Tuesday drunk / I always go all in, all in, all in / Over the handlebars / Hitting the ground so hard / If I’m alone, fallin’, fallin’, fallin’ / We ain’t gotta talk about it,” she sings while standing on a light-up dancefloor.

Lipa then appears as a shooting star and is dressed in a clear raincoat with a sparkly dress underneath. The video sees the two singers dancing and singing in a studio as well as while lying on a glittering heart-shaped spider web. The video ends with an explosion of fireworks.

Aside from ‘Handlebars’, Jennie’s LP ‘Ruby’ also includes the singles ‘Like Jennie’, ‘Mantra’‘Love Hangover’ featuring Dominic Fike‘Zen’ as well as ‘ExtraL’ featuring Doechii. Other collaborators on ‘Ruby’ include Dua Lipa on ‘Handlebars’, FKJ on ‘Intro: Jane’ and Childish Gambino and Kali Uchis on ‘Damn Right’.

In a four-star review of ‘Ruby’, NME shared: “After years of being scrutinised for everything from her dating life to her facial expressions, Jennie flips the lens back onto herself with ‘Ruby’, where she seizes control of her own mythos with staggering clarity. She asserts herself not just as a global star, but as a fully realised artist, shaping her sound and vision with an intentionality that signals real growth.”

‘Ruby’ also marks Jennie’s first body of work under her own label, Odd Atelier, under a partnership deal with Columbia Records. The former was established in late 2023, shortly after YG Entertainment announced that she and her BLACKPINK bandmates would not be renewing their solo contracts with the company.

Jennie has become the third BLACKPINK member to release their debut studio album. Rosé released ‘rosie’ in December and Lisa dropped ‘Alter Ego’ last month. Meanwhile, Jisoo dropped the mini-album ‘Amortage’ in early February. The quartet are scheduled to embark on a group world tour later this year.
