Watch Charli XCX bring ‘Brat summer’ to Ibiza for ‘Party Girl’ Boiler Room set
Charli XCX has brought her ‘Brat summer’ to Ibiza for a ‘Party Girl’-inspired set at the Boiler Room. Check out the footage below.
The singer – who has recently taken over the summer with her hit new album ‘Brat’ – brought the party to Ibiza earlier this month, when she played a packed set at the legendary club Amnesia on July 13.
Heading to the iconic Boiler Room, Charli launched the set with the album’s hit track ‘365’, before breaking through renditions of ‘Club Classics’, ‘Guess’.
As reported by Billboard, the singer also welcomed a number of impressive guests to the stage during the Ibiza set, including The 1975 member and her fiancé George Daniel, Zoe Glitter, Alex Chapman and The Dare.
Other songs on the setlist included Troye Sivan’s ‘Rush’, Da Hool’s ‘Meet Her at the Loveparade’, Rico Nasty and Boys Noize’s ‘Arintintin’ and Robert Miles’ ‘Children’.
Elsewhere on the line-up on the star-studded night was Romy, Ladies of Leisure and Shygirl. Check out the full performance from Charli XCX below.
The ‘Speed Drive’ singer recently spoke about her love of the venue during her cover story with Billboard, describing it as “a space to demonstrate that artists often make five different versions of a song and the song that is put out is not the only one.”
“The reason I love electronic music and clubs and DJs so much is that everything is endless,” she added. “Everything can be repurposed, reimagined. As a pop writer, I find that exciting.”
The Charli XCX album has undoubtedly become one of the biggest hits of the summer, and has dominated social media and fashion trends since its release last month.
In a four-star review of ‘Brat’, NME wrote: “It all paints a picture of who XCX is in 2024. Growing pains, grief and aching doubts come alongside self-confidence, celebration and the knowledge of the place XCX holds in the musical landscape – indeed, she kicks off ‘360’ with the knowing: “I went my own way and I made it / I’m your favourite reference baby”.
“With ‘Brat’, XCX demonstrates that going her own way will always sound pretty good.”
It also got fans talking recently when actor Kyle MacLachlan recently shared his admiration of the singer online and went on to discuss how his Twin Peaks character is “Brat-coded”, and when Kamala Harris used the aesthetic of the album artwork in her ongoing Presidential campaign.
