The onstage collaboration between the two took place at the Humphrey’s venue in San Diego on Monday (September 16), as Peter Hook performed alongside his band The Light.
While the former New Order and Joy Division bassist has been underway with his run of US tour dates for a little while now – playing the ‘Substance’ albums from Joy Division and New Order in full – the gig in San Diego saw him catch his crowd off guard as he introduced the Cold Cave artist.
The collaboration took place at the very beginning of Hook’s 30-song setlist, as he opened the show with the 1981 New Order song ‘Procession’. Taking to Instagram after the appearance, the post-punk musician described the moment as a “dream come true”.
“Thank you so much for having me back. Last night was such a blur getting to sing my favourite song ‘PROCESSION’ in beautiful San Diego with this unparalleled band,” he shared. “The spirit in which these songs are delivered is such a gift to all of us and I am so beyond thankful to have stood next to Peter and The Light once again… I will cherish this for the rest of my life.”
The brief appearance at Humphrey’s at the start of the week comes at a busy time for Eisold. Not only is he gearing up for the release of his new album ‘Passion Depression’, he has also been working on a contribution to Refused’s tribute album.
As well as that, he is currently involved in legal action against Cody Rhoads, WWE and Fanatics over a trademark dispute (via Stereogum).
His time joining Peter Hook on stage comes after the two performed together in that same venue two years ago. Back in 2022, both artists delivered a rendition of New Order’s ‘Ceremony’.
