Watch Coldplay play biggest stadium show of the 21st Century so far in India
Coldplay have played the biggest stadium show of the 21st century so far in India. Check out footage below.
The events took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday (January 25 and Sunday (26) and marked the latest dates on the band’s monumental ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour.
According to a new press release, the two shows were not only the biggest of the band’s career, but also set a huge world record by becoming the largest stadium concerts of the 21st century. It has been reported that over 220,000 people showed up for the two gigs.
It is the latest of huge accomplishments for Chris Martin and co., as it was confirmed last summer that the stint was officially the highest-grossing rock tour ever – making $945.7million and selling 8.8million tickets since it began in March 2022.

Since then, it has reportedly sold 12million tickets to date and grossed over $1billion. This makes it the second most successful tour in history, only overtaken by Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’.
As with all ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour dates, the live performance was split into four acts: ‘Planets’, ‘Moon’, ‘Stars’ and ‘Home’, and contained approximately 22 songs from across their discography.
For both shows in India, Coldplay opened with ‘Higher Power’, ‘Adventure Of A Lifetime’, ‘Paradise’ and ‘The Scientist’, before moving onto huge hits like ‘Viva La Vida’, ‘Yellow’ and ‘Clocks’.
At one of the two shows, Chris Martin also reportedly stopped the band midway through a rendition of ‘My Universe’ to check if a child in the audience was safe.
For both shows, they wrapped up the massive set with ‘Fix You’, ‘Good Feelings’ and ‘feelslikeimfallinginlove’. Check out footage from the Ahmedabad shows below.
So, this is the “woman” Chris helped during My Universe.
I don’t wanna start a discussion about bringing young kids to concerts. But having experienced the crowds in India live, I don’t see the point of bringing her to the barrier. Just imagine if Chris wouldn’t have seen her pic.twitter.com/sI2TFny2Nz— Jenny (@Jenny300591) January 27, 2025

As well as breaking records, the ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour has also been praised for “setting a new standard” when it comes to an eco-conscious approach to live music, thanks to a slew of sustainable initiatives introduced by the band.
In June, it was revealed to have already produced 59 per cent less CO2e emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016 and 2017. This beat the original target that Chris Martin and co. had set to ensure they beat those of previous tours by 50 per cent.
It was also revealed that 7million trees have been planted globally thanks to the success of the live shows. This comes as a result of the band promising to have one tree planted for every person who attends the tour.
Going into the remainder of 2025, the band are currently gearing up for a UK tour this summer, where they will take over stadiums in London and Hull. Also showing their commitment to helping provide support for grassroots venues, 10 per cent of their proceeds will be donated to Music Venue Trust. Visit here to purchase any remaining tickets.
Towards the end of 2024, Chris Martin spoke to NME for an exclusive interview around the new album ‘Moon Music’, and weighed up the band’s future – explaining that they have an end in sight for releasing new music in the conventional setting.“Right now, and since about 2008, if something lands in me as a song or as a good idea and it feels authentic, we’ll do it. It doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks,” he revealed.
As for whether the band are still planning on ending their catalogue after 12 albums, Martin shared: “The 12 album thing is very real, and it’s a nice feeling. It doesn’t mean we won’t tour or finish some compilation things or outtakes or whatever. It just means that the main story is told. That’s just what feels really right.”
He also added that the deadline has led to the members having “more hunger” in their approach, and determined to make sure they don’t “dilute” anything they put forward.
