Watch Dua Lipa cover Lorde’s ‘Royals’ in New Zealand, announces 2025 Latin American tour
Dua Lipa covered Lorde‘s breakthrough single ‘Royals’ in New Zealand last night (April 1).
Performing at the Spark Arena in Auckland, the pop star tackled Lorde’s 2013 debut single, which launched her career. You can watch the cover below.
It comes after she previously covered Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’ and AC/DC’s ‘Highway To Hell’ during her tour of Australia.
Last week she also brought out Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker for a cover of ‘The Less I Know The Better’ during her show in Sydney. Lipa and Parker have worked together closely before, as he was one of the main producers on her latest album ‘Radical Optimism‘.

This wasn’t the first time the duo sang together, as the pop singer previously brought Parker out during her headlining slot at last year’s edition of Glastonbury, with the two duetting on the 2015 Tame Impala song then.
Parker isn’t the only Australian guest Lipa has brought out, as she was joined by Vance Joy for a cover of ‘Riptide’ at one of her recent Melbourne shows, and by Troye Sivan for a duet of ‘Rush’ at another. She also covered the INXS‘ classic track ‘Never Tear Us Apart’.
Meanwhile, Lipa has also announced her Latin American ‘Radical Optimism’ tour dates.
Kicking off on November 7 in Buenos Aires in Argentina, the star will call at further cities in Chile, Brazil, Peru, Columbia and wrap up her tour in Mexico, on December 2. Tickets will go on pre-sale at 10am local time on April 7 here before tickets go on general sale at 10am on April 10 here. You can view the full list of dates below.
Before that, Lipa will be heading over to the UK for even more live shows this summer, kicking off the run with two huge concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium (June 20, 21) followed by two dates at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 24 and 25. Find any remaining tickets here.
Elsewhere, she recently won the dismissal of a lawsuit that had accused her of copying her 2020 hit track ‘Levitating’ from two other songs. Back in 2022, the pop star was sued by songwriters L Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer who claimed that Lipa had plagiarised their songs – 1979’s ‘Wiggle And Giggle All Night’ and 1980’s ‘Don Diablo’ while creating ‘Levitating’.
US Judge Katherine Polk Failla went on to rule that Lipa’s song and L Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer’s songs only had generic similarities along with non-copyrightable musical elements which had been previously used by the likes of Mozart and the Bee Gees in their 1977 hit ‘Stayin’ Alive’.
