Watch Gong Yoo star in new teaser for ‘Squid Game’ season two
Netflix has shared a brand-new teaser for the highly anticipated second season of Squid Game featuring the return of Gong Yoo.
Yesterday (October 1), Netflix shared the latest teaser for Squid Game season two. The new clip is focused on Gong Yoo’s mystery character, cryptically and only known as The Salesman, from its hit first season.
The minute-long clip features a cinematic look into The Salesman’s morning routine as he prepares himself for work, before he is seen walking out of the subway onto a station platform. He silently approaches the camera, and asks: “Sir, do you want to play a game with me?”
The Salesman first appeared in Squid Game’s first episode as a businessman shrouded in mystery, who first approaches and recruits the show’s lead star, Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), to participate in the survival game.
This new teaser, titled ‘You’re Invited’, comes about two weeks since Netflix dropped a “special teaser” for the season late last month. In that first visual, we see Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) – who won the game in season one – being visited at his home by The Frontman, the overseer of the titular Squid Game challenge.
Season two’s release date of December 26 was announced last month, alongside the news that the show had been renewed for a third and final season.
The new episodes will continue the story of Gi-hun, the winner at the end of season one, as the character becomes “determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport”.
The first season of Squid Game scored a four-star review from NME‘s Hidzir Junaini, who said that “the show’s sharp social critiques, suspenseful competition and sympathetic characters remain largely enthralling throughout”.
