Watch Lady Gaga tackle “inner demons” in twisted ‘Disease’ video
Lady Gaga has shared the official music video for her new single, ‘Disease’ – you can watch it below.
The singer shared the electro-pop song last Friday (October 25) as the first preview of her upcoming seventh album, known as ‘LG7’, which is expected to arrive in February 2025.
Ahead of its release, Gaga teased an eerie clip of its accompanying visuals alongside an official poster. Now, the star has unveiled the dark and twisted video for ‘Disease’ in full.
The clip begins in a quiet suburban street before we see a mysterious shadowy figure behind the wheel of a car. As the camera pans away, Gaga is revealed to be lying on the bonnet. She appears to be possessed and has a nosebleed while singing the first verse.
Soon afterwards, Gaga gets into a scuffle with another character and attempts to run away from the car. The driver – donning a Renaissance plague doctor-style costume – then embraces the artist, but she quickly escapes.
Gaga’s attempted getaway ends up with her struggling to make it through two walls that are slowly closing in on her. Tune in here to watch it all unfold:
Speaking about the ‘Disease’ video on social media, Gaga wrote: “I think a lot about the relationship I have with my own inner demons. It’s never been easy for me to face how I get seduced by chaos and turmoil. It makes me feel claustrophobic.
“‘Disease’ is about facing that fear, facing myself and my inner darkness, and realising that sometimes I can’t win or escape the parts of myself that scare me. That I can try and run from them but they are still part of me and I can run and run but eventually I’ll meet that part of myself again, even if only for a moment.”
She continued: “Dancing, morphing, running, purging. Again and again, back with myself. This integration is ultimately beautiful to me because it’s mine and I’ve learned to handle it. I am the conductor of my own symphony. I am every actor in the plays that are my art and my life.
“No matter how scary the question, the answers are inside of me. Essential, inextricable parts of what makes me me. I save myself by keeping going. I am the whole me, I am strong, and I am up for the challenge. Happy Halloween.”

Earlier this week, the singer expressed her “insane joy” over her fans’ reaction to the new single. She also promised that there was “a LOT more to come” from her soon.
Gaga had previously teased ‘Disease’ by hiding the track’s title within her Spotify catalogue. She did so by spelling out one song from each of her seven albums in upper case letters, apart from one lower case letter.
For example, ‘Dance In The Dark’ from 2009’s ‘The Fame Monster’ is now spelt ‘dANCE IN THE DARK’. When these are all put together, it reads “disease”. Gaga also shared a playlist called ‘.com’ on her Spotify account, arranging the songs to spell out “Gaga disease”.
Speaking to Rolling Stone recently, Gaga said she wasn’t “even ready to talk about [her new album] yet”, but promised to reveal more details on the “unhinged” LP soon. However, she did explain: “The pop album is nothing like [2020’s] ‘Chromatica’. It’s a completely different record […] What I would say is, it’s all for me.”
Gaga added: “It’s meant to be ingested as a time in my life. And I’m also really excited about this idea that I don’t have to adhere to an era if I don’t want to. I can have a few going at once. That feels unhinged [laughs]…”
Last month, the artist shared ‘Harlequin’ – a companion album to her new film Joker: Folie à Deux. In August, Gaga released the standalone collaborative single ‘Die With A Smile’ with Bruno Mars.
NME gave the new Joker sequel four stars, saying that Gaga “shines in a provocative prison musical” in her role as Harleen “Lee” Quinzel.
