Watch My Chemical Romance perform ‘The Black Parade’ album in full for the first time since 2007
My Chemical Romance have performed ‘The Black Parade’ in its entirety for the first time since 2007 – see fan-shot footage below.
On Saturday (October 19), My Chemical Romance headlined the When We Were Young festival, where they performed their seminal 2006 record in full from front to back live for the first time in 17 years.
They performed the record in order, kicking off with ‘The End’ and ‘Dead!’, both being played live for the first time since 2007 and 2011 respectively. Later on, they performed ‘The Sharpest Lives’ for the first time since 2008 and ‘Disenchanted’ for the first time since 2007.
Singer-songwriter Kayleigh Goldsworthy joined the band for ‘Cancer’ and ‘Mama’. Both songs included a new violin arrangement.
Songs like ‘I Don’t Love You’ and ‘Famous Last Words’ received new intros as well.
Once done with their play-through of ‘The Black Parade’, My Chemical Romance treated those in attendance to two encore songs: ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’ and ‘Helena’.
My Chemical Romance’s When We Were Young 2024 setlist was:
‘The End.’
‘Dead!’
‘This Is How I Disappear’
‘Welcome To The Black Parade’
‘I Don’t Love You’
‘House Of Wolves’
‘Cancer’
‘Mama’
‘Sleep’
‘Teenagers’
‘Disenchanted’
‘Famous Last Words’
‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’
‘Helena’
Elsewhere, My Chemical Romance quashed hopes of a reunion album earlier this year after a series of strange posts emerged on their Facebook. Scepticism grew when the band proceeded to post a number of bizarre posts, leading fans to question if there was a legitimate reunion on the horizon or if they were hacked.
Writing on Instagram, they said: “Our Facebook got hacked,” warning fans: “Don’t believe everything you read!”
The emo icons wrapped up their lengthy reunion tour in March last year. Their first show back together took place in December 2019, and their COVID-delayed world tour began with two shows at The Eden Project in Cornwall in 2022.
The band’s most recent material was 2022’s ‘The Foundations of Decay’ – a surprise single that marked their first new release in eight years, with their last full-length album being 2010’s ‘Danger Days’.
And for fans of the Midwest emo scene that preceded the 2000s explosion of emo into the mainstream, the iconic ‘American Football house’ from the band of the same name’s 1999 debut album is now available to rent on Airbnb.
