New Girl stars Zooey Deschanel and Max Greenfield reunited at the SAG Awards last night (February 23).

The duo, who played Jess and Schmidt in the sitcom between 2011 to 2018, made a surprise appearance at the ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Presenting the Best Comedy Series Ensemble Award for Only Murders In The Building, the duo roasted each other onstage.

“You look amazing,” Greenfield told Deschanel, to which she responded, “So do you! How long has it been?” He then appeared to poke fun at fan pressure for a reunion, as he responded, “We wrapped New Girl eight years ago and so the last time we saw each other must have been… Yeah, I guess eight years ago.”

The pair then turned their attention to roasting former co-star Lamorne Morris, who won an Emmy for his role in Fargo last year.

“Remember Lamorne? Have you talked to or seen Lamorne?” Deschanel asked Greenfield, who responded, “It’s been challenging since… well, you know. The Emmy.”

They then reminisced about their time together on the set of New Girl, as Deschanel shared: “When I look back on our experience on New Girl, I just wish I had known you could never get that time back. Just hanging out with my bros every day, such a good time.”

Greenfield agreed, adding: “Being a part of an ensemble is so special, and if there was one thing I could have done differently, it would only be this – and this is something that every nominated cast should do tonight. Share with each other your love, share with each other your gratitude, and share with each other how much money you guys make per episode, plus any raises that were given after multiple seasons – that’s important.”

Deschanel then pointed out: “See the beauty of being part of an ensemble is that everyone makes the same amount of money. Always.”

Elsewhere on the night, Harrison Ford was playfully scolded by his Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams after he gatecrashed her monologue, Timothée Chalamet took home the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Leading Role for his portrayal in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. He also said he was inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis during his speech.

Other winners on the night included the cast of Conclave who took home the win for Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture and Demi Moore who won Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role The Substance. You can see the full list of winners here.
