Foo Fighters played the first of two sold-out shows at London Stadium last night (Thursday June 20) – once again inviting the son of late drummer Taylor Hawkins on stage to perform. Check out footage, photos, the setlist and more below.

Introducing the mammoth set with a warning of, “I’m gonna kick your fucking ass tonight”, Dave Grohl led the rock giants through a three-hour career-spanning performance, loaded with tributes to their relationship to UK and the capital.

As well as dedicating Taylor Hawkins’ favourite Foos song ‘Aurora’ to his family who were all present, they once again had his son Shane drum with them – as they did at their huge Wembley Stadium performance in 2022. Promising fans “something special,” Grohl invited Shane to play the drums on a spirited rendition of ‘I’ll Stick Around’ from the band’s self-titled 1995 debut album. “Thank you for waiting three hours to come play drums with us,” the frontman then told the 17-year-old.

Shane performed with the band numerous times since his father passed away two years ago.

The evening also saw Grohl ask for one fan to be removed for drunken behaviour, perform a partial acoustic cover of Led Zeppelin‘s ‘Stairway To Heaven’, play “the first love song he ever wrote” ‘Big Me’ for the first time on this tour, and once again bring his “favourite singer in the world” on stage with his daughter Violet joining him for a duet on ‘Show Me How’.

They also delivered their now standard mash-up of Beastie Boys‘ ‘Sabotage’, The Ramones‘ ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’ and ‘Whip It’ by Devo along with Nine Inch Nails‘ ‘March of the Pigs’ – the latter two in honour of the bands that new drummer Josh Freese has played with.

Foo Fighter’s London Stadium setlist on June 20 was:

‘All My Life’
‘No Son of Mine’
‘Rescued’
‘The Pretender’
‘Walk’
‘Times Like These’
‘Generator’
‘Stacked Actors’

Foo Fighters perform a second night at London Stadium tomorrow (Saturday June 22). Check out the doors and stage times here.

Following their performances in the capital, Foo Fighters will head to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff (June 25) and the Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham (27). Find any remaining tickets for the tour here.

Last week saw the band play a previously unheard song called ‘Unconditional’ at the first Manchester date. A representative for the group told Consequence that the track was “partially written and demoed during home studio sessions years ago – but ultimately left unfinished”.

NME gave that set a four-star review, writing: “Approaching 30 years as a band, Foo Fighters have adapted in the face of any adversity, ensuring their stadium show remains cohesive, exemplary and simply untouchable.

“While others from their time might begin to creep towards legacy act territory, Foo Fighters remain as relevant and imperious as ever – they’re only going to need even more stadiums to fill.”

In Glasgow, frontman Grohl was joined on stage by his daughter Violet. He also sipped from a bottle of Buckfast while the unofficial national anthem ‘Flower Of Scotland’ was sung by the crowd.

The band released their 11th and latest studio album, ‘But Here We Are’, last June before playing a surprise hits-filled set at Glastonbury 2023.
