What is the plot of Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born?
Based on a webcomic of the same name Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born follows the life of Jeongnyeon, a trainee at a local theatre company called Maeran Gukgeuk-dan, set in the 1950s post-Korean War.
The series follows her as she fiercely competes against her biggest rival, Youngseo, in order to achieve her dream of becoming one of South Korea’s best female classical opera singers.
Who will star in the new Disney+ K-drama?
Twenty-Five Twenty-One actress Kim Tae-ri will star as the series’ titular character, while Shin Ye-eun of The Glory will play Youngseo. Meanwhile, the show’s supporting cast features a star-studded ensemble, including Ra Mi-ran, Pachinko‘s Jung Eun-chae, Queenmaker‘s Moon So-ri and more.
Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born is written by A Time Called You‘s Choi Hyo-bi and helmed by director Jung Ji-in, who previously worked on hit shows such as The Red Sleeve and Radiant Office.

How do I watch Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born?
The Disney+ K-drama series will be available to stream internationally on the platform on October 12. In South Korea, the show will air on cable network tvN, with new episodes airing every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20pm KST.
