Weezer have welcomed Oasis back by sharing their cover of the band’s classic track ‘Wonderwall’ – check out the post below.

As announced yesterday (August 27), Liam and Noel Gallagher have reconciled and are due to embark on a huge UK and Ireland reunion tour with Oasis next summer, dubbed ‘OASIS LIVE 25’.

Many fans shared their excitement over the news on social media, as did figures from the music industry and beyond.

Taking to X/Twitter, Weezer shared a screenshot of Liam Gallagher being asked on the platform whether he was a fan of theirs. He simply responded: “Yeah.” Rivers Cuomo and co. wrote: “Welcome back @oasis, we like you too.”

The group then posted a brief clip of them covering the Britpop giants’ hit 1995 single ‘Wonderwall’. “Anyway, here’s ‘Wonderwall’,” they wrote. You can see those tweets below.

According to Setlist.FM, Weezer performed a version of the ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ song nine times back in 2018. Cuomo has also played an acoustic rendition of ‘Champagne Supernova’ from the same album previously.

Earlier this summer, the frontman responded to Liam once calling him his “favourite rock star”. Speaking to NME for an edition of ‘Does Rock ‘N’ Roll Kill Braincells?!’, Cuomo recalled: “We did a whole set of Oasis covers under the pseudonym Goat Punishment [in 1998].”

He continued: “It was a real education because it was on the heels of [1996’s] ‘Pinkerton’, which is a very tortured, personal, confessional and musically-progressive album, and then I got interested in Oasis because they’re the opposite of that – they’re very broad, universal lyrics, and simple songs with chords that anyone could play, and I wanted to really get inside their way of doing things, so we learned a bunch of their songs and played a show.”

Tickets for Oasis’ 2025 UK and Ireland reunion tour go on general sale at 9am BST this Saturday (August 31). You’ll be able to buy yours here (UK), and here (Ireland). Fans can also sign up for a ballot to access a pre-sale on Friday (30) before 7pm BST today (28).

Ticketmaster has outlined its strict rules for purchasing tickets ahead of the sales – confirming that customers will only be able to order four tickets per household and card.
