K-pop girl group Weki Meki will be disbanding after releasing their final single, titled ‘CoinciDestiny’, next week.

Today (June 7), Fantagio Music announced that the eight-member girl group – formed by members Suyeon, Elly, Choi Yoo-jung, Kim Do-yeon, Sei, Lua, Rina and Lucy – will be dropping their digital single ‘CoinciDestiny’ as a “final goodbye” to fans.

“Forever remembering us who shone brilliantly, met by chance and dreamed of fate,” reads the accompanying caption. ‘CoinciDestiny’ arrives on June 12 at 6pm KST. At the time of publishing, Fantagio Music has not shared the exact date or reason for Weki Meki’s impending disbandment.

‘ConciDestiny’ will arrive after several years of inactivity from the girl group. Their last release was the November 2021 mini-album ‘I Am Me’ led by the single ‘Siesta’.

Since their hiatus, member Choi Yoo-jung made her solo debut in September 2022 with ‘Sunflower’. Member Elly also participated in Mnet’s Queendom Puzzle in 2023.

Weki Meki made their debut in August 2017, shortly after members Choi Yoo-jung and Kim Do-yeon concluded their activities with project girl group I.O.I. The pair had become part of the group through the first season of reality TV show Produce 101 alongside Chung Ha, Jeon Somi, Kim Se-jeong and more.

In other K-pop news, BTS’ Jungkook has released a new fan-dedicated single titled ‘Never Let Go’ as part of the group’s yearly BTS Festa event. Their label Big Hit Music shared that the track is “a token of gratitude for the boundless love from ARMY (BTS’ fanbase) all over the world”.
