Narrator:
From country to football, fans think their faves just got snubbed. Beyoncé topped the Billboard Hot 100 this year with her country hit “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM.” But that wasn’t enough to get her any nominations at the CMA Awards. Many fans pointed out that they find it strange that Bey didn’t get one nod yet Post Malone, who Beyoncé featured on ‘Cowboy Carter,’ got four for his song with Morgan Wallen.
Current chart-topper and another ‘Cowboy Carter’ collaborator, Shaboozey, had this to say on X: “That goes without saying. Thank you beyonce for opening the door for us, starting a conversation, and giving us one of the most innovative country albums of all time!” He got two CMA noms, including for new artist of the year.
In the football world, many are excited to see Kendrick Lamar perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, but some are saying Lil Wayne should have gotten the honor since SB59 will take place in his hometown of New Orleans. In the rap world, Birdman, Master P, Mase and many more spoke in defense of Wayne, while Nicki Minaj fired off a bunch of posts on X suggesting Jay-Z didn’t pick Lil Wayne because of her. Neither Lil Wayne nor Jay-Z have addressed these concerns. Billboard has reached out to Jay-Z’s reps at Roc Nation for comment. Do you think Lil Wayne or Beyoncé got snubbed?
