Wesley Snipes jokes Marvel’s ‘Blade’ reboot is going “kinda rough”
Wesley Snipes has made a comment about the delays to Marvel’s forthcoming Blade reboot.
Back in 2019, a revival of the original film trilogy, released between 1998 and 2004, was announced at San Diego Comic Con in 2019.
However, the departures of two directors, along with last year’s writers strikes, have set the movie’s progress back, after originally being scheduled for release in November 2023.
Snipes, who played the titular role in all three films, has addressed the delay, calling the attempts to reboot the movie “kinda rough”.
In a post on his official X account, the actor wrote “Blade, lordylordylordy. Folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough.”

The updated release date is November 7 2025, however, the departure of Yann Demange last week may have delayed the project further.
The Marvel reboot is set to star Pearl star Mia Goth, and double-Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the titular role.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly last year, the Green Book star shared how he is still optimistic about the film’s progress, saying: “I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that.”
Alongside The Fantastic Four’s Eric Pearson, the script has been written by more than five other writers, including True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto.
In other Marvel news, Disney’s CEO has confirmed that the studio will release fewer movies in future.
As part of an overall strategy at Disney to concentrate more on the quality of content, rather than quantity, the number of Marvel projects will be reduced, said the studio head.
“We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three,” said Bob Iger.
