What is ‘The White Lotus’ season three theme song?
The White Lotus is back for season three, but what is the theme song this time around? Read on for all the info.
The third season of Mike White’s comedy-drama series debuts on Sunday night (February 16) on HBO in the US, with UK viewers able to watch on Sky and NOW TV from the early hours of Monday morning.
After seasons set in Hawaii and Sicily, the new episodes see the show relocate to a new branch of the luxury hotel chain – this time in Thailand. Among the new cast are BLACKPINK’s Lisa, making her acting debut, as well as Jason Isaacs, Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb and Scott Glenn.
Lisa, who herself is Thai, spoke about her transition to acting recently, explaining: “It’s pretty new to me, but I think it’s similar to shooting music videos. I’m excited for my fans to see it,” adding that it was great “to be back home, to have Thai food every day.”
In a four-star review of season three, NME wrote: “A little sweetness definitely helps to balance out the prevailing saltiness. As the season progresses, the sneaky intricacy of White’s plotting begins to yield surreal, shocking and genuinely hilarious moments. No one can write a scene where one character pretends not to remember another quite as exquisitely as White. Tanya may be gone, but this transgressive soap opera remains unique and completely jaw-dropping.”
What is The White Lotus season three theme song?
Like the first two seasons, the new episodes have a theme composed by Chilean-born Canadian composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer, who had previously overseen the music for similarly unsettling shows such as Utopia and Black Mirror.
Season one was introduced by ‘Aloha!’, an earworm theme made from tribal, rhythmic drumming and eerie vocal chants that evoked the idyllic Hawaiian setting but suggested underlying tension and menace.
Following on from that, the season two theme was ‘Renaissance’ by de Veer, a remixed version of ‘Aloha!’ that retooled the track into a pulsating dance track with Baroque classical influences rubbing shoulders with club beats and operatic chanting, to fit the Sicilian setting of the season.
‘Renaissance’ took on a life of its own for White Lotus fans, with the theme’s club-ready vibe being exploited in a high-energy, festival-ready mix by Dutch EDM producer Tiësto.
With season three about to launch, the new theme music has yet to be released, but it is likely to once again reinterpret ‘Aloha!’ for the new Thai setting. Come back here for the new theme once it has been revealed.
