Beyond the main seasons, there has been a Christmas episode and an interactive film titled Bandersnatch, which won an Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie.
The seventh season, which released on April 10, 2025, starred the likes of Peter Capaldi, Issa Rae, Paul Giamatti, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Awkwafina.
Has Black Mirror been renewed for season 8?

At the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed Black Mirror for an eighth season. A decision on the show’s future will likely be announced in the coming weeks.
The show’s creator is keen to keep the show running though. “Hopefully [it will run and run],” Brooker told the BBC. “Selfishly, it’s a fun job. Technology is developing in the real world very quickly.
“That means there are more sources of inspiration, and… the viewer is experiencing more [technological] things in their everyday life.
“We can do stories that I wouldn’t have thought of 10 years ago, and also, you don’t need to explain some of the concepts to people because they’ve got it in their phone.”
Brooker has expressed a similar sentiment elsewhere in regards to the show’s future. When asked if the show could return by RadioTimes.com, he said: “Nothing is off the table. I’ll keep doing this until people get sick of it. Or me.
“Or if the world suddenly, overnight, completely improves into a utopia, and we have no need for this kind of entertainment anymore, because we’re all so happy out in the wild, patting unicorns on the head.”
When will Black Mirror season 8 be released?
The time between seasons of Black Mirror has varied wildly in the past. For example, there was two years between seasons six and seven, four years between five and six, and only one year between the third and fourth season.
This makes predicting a release date difficult, but it seems likely a potential eighth season could arrive in 2027, as two years has been the average time between seasons overall.
