Where to find a Colossal Bone in ‘Monster Hunter Wilds’

Monster Hunter Wilds Colossal Bone: A player can be seen fighting a dragon.

There are many different materials you can earn in Monster Hunter Wilds, but one of the most important as you reach High Rank is Colossal Bones. These bones are key to crafting new armor and weapons.

Here is a breakdown of how you can get them easily, and what you need to do to find them on hunts.

Monster Hunter Wilds Colossal Bone Locations

Colossal Bones can be found by defeating High Rank monsters and carving their corpses at the end of a hunt. You can’t find these on the map or from bone piles on the ground; they only have a chance of spawning when you carve a monster’s corpse.

Therefore, you may need to play multiple high-rank hunts or go after rarer monsters to increase the likelihood of them dropping. Colossal Bones are one of the main upgrade materials alongside individual monster parts that you get for hunting specific monsters. Unlike most of the other materials in the game, which have guaranteed ways to make them drop by cutting off limbs or tails, Colossal Bones are a lot more random. Therefore, if you have to kill an Apex monster, or a regular low-level monster, you have a chance to earn one, provided you are in high-rank.

However, we may see individual event quests later on that offer guaranteed drops of Colossal Bones and other materials, like we have already started to see with some updates after launch. If new ways to earn Colossal Bones open up, we will also update this article with additional information.
