Where to watch all the Oscar-nominated films in the UK
The nominations for the 2025 Oscars might be one of the most eclectic yet, between musical adaptations, sci-fi blockbusters and body horror nightmares.
The 97th Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will take place on Sunday, March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Emilia Pérez leads this year’s pack with 13 nominatins, followed by The Brutalist and Wicked with ten nods each, and Conclave and A Complete Unknown with eight.
All five of those films are up for Best Picture, alongside Anora, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys and The Substance. If you’re looking to catch up on all these films, here’s where they are available in the UK.
Emilia Pérez

Jacques Audiard’s musical crime film follows a Mexican cartel leader who wants to disappear and transition into a woman with the help of a lawyer. Karla Sofía Gascón plays the titular character, alongside Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz and Édgar Ramírez.
Where to watch: Emilia Pérez is available to stream on Netflix. Screenings are also available in select cinemas.
A Complete Unknown

Timothée Chalamet takes on the role of Bob Dylan in this biopic, which depicts the musician’s transition from folk to electric instruments. Other cast members include Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro and Boyd Holbrook.
Where to watch: A Complete Unknown is in cinemas. The movie was recently made available to buy and rent on streaming platforms in the US, so it should be available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV in the UK soon, before it comes to Disney+.
The Brutalist

A Holocaust survivor immigrates to the US in pursuit of the American dream in this epic period drama. Adrien Brody is the frontrunner to pick up Best Actor at the Oscars, which would be his second win in the category following 2002’s The Pianist.

Conclave

This political thriller follows Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Thomas Lawrence, who finds himself amid secrets and scandal in the vote for the next pope. The film also stars Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Sergio Castellitto and Isabella Rossellini.

Dune: Part Two

Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic concludes with this second chapter, as Paul Atreides seeks to unite the Fremen people of Arrakis against House Harkonnen. The all-star cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Austin Butler and Florence Pugh.

Nickel Boys

Based on the novel by Colson Whitehead, this historical drama follows two African-American boys, Elwood and Turner, who are sent to an abusive reform school in 1960s Florida. This is director RaMell Ross’s first feature film, following several acclaimed documentaries.

Anora

Mikey Madison delivers an excellent performance as a stripper who has a whirlwind romance with the son of a Russian oligarch, only for it to spiral out of control. This is the eighth film by director Sean Baker, following the likes of Tangerine and The Florida Project.

I’m Still Here
Fernanda Torres leads this political biographical drama about Brazilian lawyer and activist Eunice Paiva, who is coping with the forced disappearance of her husband amid a military dictatorship. Along with Best Picture, the film is also nominated in the Best International Feature Film category.

The Substance

Demi Moore plays fading celebrity Elisabeth Sparkle in this French body horror film, who turns to a black market drug to create a younger version of herself, played by Margaret Qualley. Other cast members include Dennis Quaid and Edward Hamilton-Clark.
Where to watch: The Substance is available to stream through MUBI on Amazon Prime Video. You can also buy or rent the film digitally through Apple TV and the Sky Store. It is released on DVD and Blu-ray from March 31, 2025.
Wicked

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande lead this adaptation of the stage musical, helmed by Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu. This is only the first half of the musical, with the second film, titled Wicked: For Good, set to be released on November 21, 2025.
