Who voices Geralt in ‘The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep’?
The Witcher: Sirens Of The Deep is out now on Netflix, but who voices Geralt in the new spinoff film? Read on for all the info.
It is the second animated movie in the franchise, after Nightmare Of The Wolf, which came out in August 2021. Both films are set in the same universe as the original live-action series The Witcher, which has run for three seasons to date.
The show, based on the series of fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, premiered in 2019 and follows Geralt Of Rivia, a monster hunter in the medieval landmass known as the Continent who possesses supernatural abilities due to his mutations.
Netflix confirmed last April that the main series will end with season five, with the final two seasons to adapt the remaining three books, Baptism Of Fire, The Tower Of The Swallow and Lady Of The Lake.
Sirens Of The Deep, meanwhile, is based on the short story A Little Sacrifice and is set between the fifth and sixth episode of season one of the live action show. Check out the trailer below.
According to an official synopsis for Sirens Of The Deep: “Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must count on friends – old and new – to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into all-out war.”
Who voices Geralt in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep?
The lead character in The Witcher has been portrayed by Henry Cavill in the live action series for the first three seasons, although it was announced last year that he would be standing down from the role, with Liam Hemsworth replacing him for seasons four and five.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season four,” Cavill said.
“In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.
“Liam, good sir, this character has such wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you find.”
For Sirens Of The Deep, however, the voice of Geralt is filled by Doug Cockle, who has previously voiced the character in CD Projekt Red’s video game trilogy of The Witcher.
For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cockle was nominated for a Game Award for Best Performance and won a Golden Joystick Award for Best Gaming Performance. Cockle has also had minor roles in Captain America: The First Avenger and Band Of Brothers.
