The official trailer for Wicked the movie has been released.
Coming to cinemas later this year, the film stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande and Jeff Goldblum, and is an adaptation of the musical of the same name. It tells the untold story of the witches of Oz.
Wicked follows Elphaba (Erivo) as she begins at Shiz University, where she forms an unlikely friendship with Glinda (Grande). While navigating their differences, learning about Elphaba’s powers and discovering the truth about the Wizard (Goldblum), the pair lead the beloved story which serves as a prequel to The Wizard Of Oz.

Set in a hyper-realistic fantasy land, featuring eccentric costumes and sophisticated special effects, the trailer subtly teases the story’s darker elements, as well as the sub-plot of a love story, and the references to The Wizard Of Oz. Check out the trailer below.
The story, co-written by Winnie Holzman, is loosely based on Gregory Maguire’s 1955 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, and the music and lyrics for Wicked were written by Stephen Schwartz.
